Cherry Mousse – an easy delicious dessert perfect for so many occasions during the year. The recipe as is makes 8 servings but it can easily be doubled to serve more people. If you don’t feel like dividing the dessert out into individual servings place it into a pretty bowl and spoon Cherry Mousse out into dessert dishes before it’s served. Making it in a pretty bowl makes it very easy to transport to a friends house for dessert, Summer bbq’s and Winter holiday celebrations, to work as a treat for your co workers or to take to a pot luck dinner.
Can I make this mousse using different fruit pie filling flavors?
Since we’re using a canned cherry pie filling and cherry jello to make our Cherry Mousse I see no reason why you couldn’t make flavor variations of this mousse by using different canned fruit pie fillings with the jello flavor that matches it. For example if you wanted to make Strawberry Mousse using canned strawberry pie filling, use strawberry jello. Make Raspberry Mousse using canned raspberry pie filling and raspberry jello.
This is a pretty easy dessert to make variations on as long as your keeping with the recipe ingredient measurements and just substituting flavors. Now if you wanted to make a peach mousse I’d rough chop the peach pie filling slightly first so you don’t have long pieces of peach in a single serving dessert dish. Now that we’ve discussed flavor variations let’s make Cherry Mousse!
Let’s get started and make this delicious , easy Cherry Mousse. To make the mousse you’ll need:
Cherry Mousse Ingredients:
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 small packages Cherry Jello
- 4 cups ice cubes
- 3 cups thawed Cool Whip
- 1 cup canned cherry pie filling
Place the cherry jello into a large bowl. Stir the boiling water into the jello until it’s dissolved.
Add four cups of ice to the bowl and stir until the jello starts to thicken. If the jello starts to thicken and there’s still ice in the bowl remove it and throw it away.
Add 3 cups of thawed Cool Whip to the Jello. Stir the Cool Whip into the slightly thickened Jello with a whisk until it’s well incorporated. Refrigerate the bowl about 20 minutes or until the mixture is slightly thickened.
After the Jello mixture has slightly thicken in the fridge, take it out of the refrigerator and stir in 1 cup of cherry pie filling.
Spoon the Cherry Mousse into serving dishes (or a pretty bowl) and place them into the refrigerator for four hours or until firm. Cherry Mousse will serve you well as a delicious treat anytime of the year, make it and ENJOY!
