I love old fashioned cakes like Mom’s Best Apple Cake. It’s a soft, moist cake with lots of apples baked into it. There’s also a hot caramel sauce poured over the apple cake after it’s baked that makes this outrageously delicious!

Hello…I made this cake last weekend after picking fresh apples. I added a little cinnamon and it turned out GREAT!! Took it to work and it was gone in no time.
Definitely a keeper…have more apples to use up!!
Does this freeze well?
Making this right now 🙂
can u use butter instead of oil?
it sounds really good but think I will had cinnamon too
Emily, I would put the topping on if your going to freeze it. freeze the cake part and then when you’re ready to un freeze it,let it come to room temp ,make the topping and pour over the cake.
Tina thank you for coming back and telling me you made it! that’s awesome!
Anonymous, yes add cinnamon it’ll go very well in the cake, maybe a tsp. if you sub butter for the oil, melt the butter first.
Tried this recipe today….I baked the cake for about 30 mins because otherwise it would have burned and dried out! To prevent it from being dry I poked holes in the top and poured the carmel sauce on top. The batter wasnt the usual cake batter. But the cake tasted great.
Thank you cupcakekate for letting me know you made it!
Good cake and easy to make. Needs cinnamon or nutmeg. Very bland
Good cake and easy to make…just needs cinnamon!
This cake is fantastic! I have made it twice in the past two weeks and everyone has loved it and asked for the recipe. The additional beauty of this cake and recipe is that not only is delicious, but it is so easy to make! Thank you!
