However, spring is a time to freshen up and start new things. Go out of your comfort zone with spring recipes. This is the time to try a new treat for your family or spoil yourself with a brand new type of breakfast. The sky is the limit with these recipes, kids.
Which spring fruits and spring vegetables are in your backyard?
There are plenty of opportunities hidden in here to save money this spring. For example, having your own garden is a huge way to save money. You can plan for what spring fruits and spring vegetables you want in your recipes for this season, and then stock up on them in your own backyard.
If you have kids, this is a great way to teach them more about cooking, the environment, and responsibilities. They may also be more willing to try some of those spring vegetables if they grew them themselves and helped prepare and cook them.
Which fruits and vegetables are being sold at your farmers’ market?
Make sure to look up the closest market to you, and spend a morning exploring there. See what fruits and vegetables are available for your spring recipes, and talk to the farmers about them a well. A huge benefit is getting spring fruits and spring vegetables at the market are almost literally “farm to table”. Who can say no to that?
