Key Lime Margarita Pie
This key lime margarita pie is a cool, delicious treat that’s easy to make with a wonderful tart, sweet and salty edge to it.
This little gem mimics the flavor of a Margarita without the alcohol! This easy pie is made with a pretzel crust to give you a wonderful tart, sweet and salty lime flavor just like the drink. However, if for some reason you aren’t crazy about the idea of using a pretzel crust, feel free to use a graham cracker crust if that’s more to your liking. Also, if you want to make this delicious treat but want to cut back on calories and fat, this pie can also be made with low fat Cool Whip and low fat sweetened condensed milk.
Furthermore, if you love the flavors in the recipe but don’t feel like making a pie crust, make parfaits. Layer the crushed pretzels or graham cracker crumbs and filling into dessert glasses and refrigerate the dessert for a couple of hours before serving and top with whipped cream.
Can I make key lime margarita pie- but in different flavors?
Absolutely you can! Try it using lemon-flavored Kool-Aid and lemon juice instead of lime juice. How about orange flavored Kool-Aid and frozen orange juice concentrate (thawed) for the lime juice. This delicious recipe has tons of flavor options, today we’re going to make Key Lime Margarita Pie together so let’s gather the ingredients.
Key Lime Margarita Pie Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups finely crushed pretzels
- 6 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 cup lime juice
- 1/4 cup sugar
- One 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- One 0.13 envelope Lemon Lime Flavor Unsweetened Drink Mix
- One 8 ounce tub Cool Whip, thawed and divided
We start this easy, delicious pie by making the pretzel pie crust. Place enough pretzels in a food processor to give you 1 1/4 cups of crushed pretzels and process until they are fine crumbs. If you don’t have a food processor, place the pretzels into a large plastic resealable bag and crush them with a rolling pin until they are fine crumbs. Place the pretzel crumbs, sugar, and butter into a large bowl and mix them all together. Press the crumbs onto the sides and bottom of a 9-inch pie plate. Place the pie plate into a preheated 350-degree oven and bake the pretzel crust for about 10 minutes. Remove it from the oven and let it cool while you make the pie filling.
Place the lime juice, the Lemon Lime Flavored Kool-Aid and the sweetened condensed milk in a large bowl. Whisk the ingredients until they are well incorporated and smooth.
Stir in 2 1/2 cups of thawed Cool Whip into the bowl until all the ingredients are blended together well without any lumps. Pour the filling into the cooled pretzel crust. Freeze the pie for at least six hours, more if you can. Right before you’re ready to serve Key Lime Margarita Pie remove it from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for fifteen minutes to soften slightly before cutting and serving it. Top the pie with the remaining Cool Whip.
Key Lime Margarita Pie – a cool, tart delicious any time of the year treat!

This sounds delicious and refreshing! I love all of your recipes and have made many of them with great success. So, you’ll have to forgive me when I ask, where the heck is the Jello lol? I’ve pinned it to make, but want to make sure a key ingredient isn’t missing.
Oh good grief Peggy leave it to me to mess the name up!! I have no clue why I wrote Jello when it’s Kool aid. I’m loosin it honey, thanks for pointing it out!
😆 Believe me I understand!
I wish I saw this recipe a week ago! I was looking for a Cinco de Mayo dessert and this pie would have been perfect! Looks soooo good ♥
This looks so beautifully light and creamy, and I love the color!!
Thank you Sue
My son and I have both never had anything key lime flavored. This recipe looks like the perfect one to start with – thanks!
Yes please! This pie has my name written all over it!
Love the colour of this pie! Key lime is a favourite dessert ingredient in our house, so can’t wait to try it! Might even make parfaits as you suggest!
Do you think this recipe could be made with 8 oz whipped heavy cream instead of the cool whip?
Amy I’ve never done that. BUT..what I have done in years passed is use this homemade recipe for Cool Whip. It uses unflavored gelatin but it’s a very very easy recipe to make….https://www.myfoodandfamily.com/recipe/057421/chefs-secret-whipped-cream-recipe
