Ingredients
1poundfresh or frozen green beansif using frozen, thaw completely
2Tablespoonslight brown sugar
1tablespoonsoy sauce
1/2teaspoondried crushed red pepper flakesor more to your liking
1red pepper slicedif using frozen, thaw completely
1large onionsliced
1Tablespoonolive oil
Instructions
If using fresh green beans: snap the ends of the beans. Blanch fresh green beans in boiling salted water for about 1 minute. Plunge into cold water to stop the cooking process. Pat dry.
If using frozen green beans, thaw completely. Pat dry.
Place 1 tablespoon of olive oil in the bottom of a skillet over medium high heat. Place the green beans, peppers and onions in the pan and saute until the onion and peppers are caramelized and the green beans are charred.
In a small bowl mix the brown sugar, soy sauce and crushed red pepper together. Pour over green bean mixture, stir to coat. Remove from the pan to a platter , serve hot.
