This is Ree's version of a famous Southern recipe called Mississippi Roast. There are many versions of it on Pinterest if others are interested. Some use Ranch dressing mix and French Onion soup mix instead of the consume' and Italian seasoning. Most call for using the whole jar of peppers. Ree's version might be less salty.

This recipe was very simple and easy to make. I used a dry packet of Italian salad dressing mix and minced 3 large cloves of garlic when making mine. My 3lb roast took 6+ hours to cook until tender on the low setting on my crockpot. I diced up the peperchini's for sandwich toppings and they were great. Thanks for a simple and easy to prepare Italian beef recipe.

Use half the jar of pepperoccini peppers Kelly, that's in the recipe. I don't think they make small jars, so use half the 16 ounce jar. Let me know what you think!

How much pepperoccini peppers go in here? My jar is 16 ounces. It wasn’t clear if your recipe calls for half of a 16 ounce jar or if you’re using a bigger jar and 16 ounces is half of that. Thanks! Can’t wait to eat it tonight!

Hi Mary J! I made a roast in the crock pot with a small eye of round beef roast (a chuck roast would be even better) We actually like using chuck roasts in the crock pot, I think they have more flavor. Try this one...https://bunnyswarmoven.net/crock-pot-roast-sour-cream-gravy/

These sandwiches sound amazing and I definitely will be trying it in my Slow Cooker, Pinned it. This would be way too much meat for my husband and I to have in one meal. Can you suggest a second meal that this Beef Chuck Roast would also be good in? Thanks for your great recipe and any suggestions you can make. Mary
