Homemade Teriyaki Sauce
It makes me feel like someone gave me a present when I find a recipe as good as Homemade Teriyaki Sauce. It’s a present because it’s one less thing I have to buy at the grocery store. Homemade Teriyaki Sauce is better than anything you can buy in a jar and extremely easy to make. Easy as in…it’ll take ten minutes out of your day… tops!
You can use Homemade Teriyaki Sauce to make stir- fries using boneless chicken, beef or pork. When I make it, I save any left over sauce and use it to make a side dish later on in the week. It’s a fantastic way to make use of leftover vegetables and rice. You’re going to keep this recipe close by, it’s your ticket to fast, easy delicious meals. Let’s gather the ingredients and make this delicious Teriyaki Sauce together.
Homemade Teriyaki Sauce Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 Teaspoon garlic powder
- 5 Tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water
How To Make Homemade Teriyaki Sauce
Place the soy sauce, water, ground ginger, garlic powder and brown sugar in medium size sauce pan. Stir the ingredients together. Set your stove burner to low to medium heat and cook the ingredients until they are just hot and not boiling.
When the ingredients in the pan are hot, combine the cornstarch and COLD water in a small bowl. Stir the two ingredients together until the cornstarch is dissolved. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan. Stir and cook the ingredients in the pan until the sauce thickens. I have a gas stove, there isn’t a medium heat setting on my stove dial. When the corn starch and water mixture are in the pan and cooking, I’m also stirring the ingredients in the pan and watching it thicken. I remove the sauce from the heat when it’s the thickness that I want it. It doesn’t necessarily have to come to a boil for it to thicken . When the sauce has thickened, remove the pan from the stove.
This Homemade Teriyaki Sauce is the perfect way to dress up your home grown vegetables from the garden or from your favorite farmers market. It’s a great alternative to just adding butter to cooked fresh vegetables. I hope you get as many years of enjoyment out of this easy, flavorful sauce as we have because, it’s What’s For Dinner?! And it’s delicious!

Can I use all purpose flour instead of cornstarch? And how will this change the cuantity I need to use ?
I’ve always used cornstarch Carol. I’m not sure how it would change it. It may have lumps in it if the flour doesn’t devolve well.
Just tried it. I really love it. Easy to make with accessible ingredients.
