The last time I posted was in April, a lot of things have happened since then…good things. I moved from Pennsylvania to Kentucky and got married. To Read More, Click On The Recipe Title.
My husband and I live a quiet life on Gilberts Creek. There’s lots of country, beautiful country and plenty of fresh air and sunshine. I”m blessed to be married to a handsome, energetic, creative man and I”m going to take very good care of him. Paul had the first piece of this snack cake and said that ….it was perfect. From the amount of cinnamon to the right amount of sweetness it all balanced out very well. It was originally an apple cake but since our neighbor has a pear tree I decided to use them. The first thing I noticed about the cake while I was mixing the batter is that it was very thick, I double checked the recipe to see if I had forgotten any liquid…no, no ingredient missing so into the pan it went. While baking it produces a very nice crusty brown top that goes very well with the soft pears. This is an excellent cake for a quick dessert, it comes together easily and the results are fantastic. Enjoy!

Great to have you back. I missed you!
Welcome back 🙂
This cake sounds delicious…I love anything pear at this time of the year. Such a yummy fall/winter fruit!
Yes, good to see you back! Quick question, the recipe lists apples in the ingredients but I assume you mean pears right? Welcome back!
I missed you! So glad to see you back and congrats on your marriage! Hope we see more of you and your wonderful recipes now!
Bunny I have thought about you so often and wondered where you had gotten to. Am pleased to know your disappearance was for happy reasons! Congratulations! This cake looks fabulous! I am not surprised your husband enjoyed it. I know that Todd will too! xxoo
Yes Laurel I meant to change the recipe to say pears! LOL!! I missed everybody so much! I have sung the praises of all of you to my husband so much it’s like talking about your favorite family members!
Welcome back!
So very glad to know you’re back, Bunny! And warmest congrats on your marriage. I am happy for you. The first photo in your post, of the woodsy scene, is just beautiful. The cake looks pretty darn good, too. Can’t beat a simple cake with pears or apples in it this time of year. Hope you’re back to stay! 🙂
Congratulations Bunny. So happy for you and Paul. He is one lucky guy, for sure.
congrats on your marriage, bunny–that’s wonderful! this is a luscious-looking cake. i’ve seen it with apples, but i think i’d prefer it with pears!
Good to see you again :). Congratulations to both of you – you deserve to be very happy.
I was just thinking the other day that I hadn’t seen a post from you for a long while. Congrats on getting married and sounds like your new home is delightful. The cake looks great, too!
Congratulations Bunny… and, I must say….your surroundings look wonderful. What beautiful areas you will have for walking….
I’ve got several apple cake recipes…but, this might just be the perfect one….. I’ll definitely give it a try.
Isn’t it funny how our bloggy buddies do become like family…almost better than family in some cases… a lot of us have families that are more trouble than they’re worth. I love having an imaginary extended family through blogging…. my husband knows exactly who I am talking about now too when I mention who is doing or saying what on the blogs….
Congrats Bunny on your marriage and your new home sounds like a piece of Heaven. I made this recipe today but didn’t have pears and used Granny Smith apples instead. It was easy and came out great. As my husband would say…..”this one’s a “Keeper”.
I was so surprised and delighted to receive a comment from you. I had been thinking of you and hoped that you were doing well. Sounds as if you are doing awesome! How happy I am for your new beginnings and new love.
