Disclosure: I am partnering with Kauffman’s Fruit Farm as a blog ambassador. I have received these Kauffman’s Fruit Farm products for free; however, all opinions remain my own.
So why has Bunny’s Warm Oven decided to be an ambassador for Kauffman’s Fruit Farms? They are a family business in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. This year they are celebrating 100 years of hard work and great products. You don’t stay in business 100 years without being good at what you do. I’m a Pennsylvania girl and am very happy to support a hard working family in the state I love.
Once a month Kauffman’s Fruit Farm is going to send me a gift package to review with you. It’s going to be exciting and interesting to see the products they send and the recipes I can incorporate them into. This months gift package contained Apple Butter Spread, Fresh Apples and Apple Schnitz. All recipes will be posted at the end of this review.
Kauffman’s Apple Butter Spread is rich in color and taste, just the way it should be. The apple and cinnamon flavors in the spread are perfect. It had just the right amount of sugar in it, not to sweet with a little tang to it. Delicious! It brought back memories of being a kid eating fresh buttered bread smothered in apple butter. Pair this Fall favorite with these Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits I made to sample the spread.
Apple Schnitz is a product very new to me. I’ve never tasted or baked with it before my gift pack came. These all natural dried soft sweet apples contain no preservatives. I used Apple Schnitz in a recipe for cookies that required dried apples. The cookies were soft and chewy, the cinnamon flavor paired so very well with the chopped up Apple Schnitz!! I absolutely loved them. Oatmeal for breakfast would be twice as good with chopped up dried sweet apple added to the pot while it’s cooking. I have to try that next.
The last product in my gift box… two delicious crisp Kauffman’s Fruit Farm Apples. They were all mine. Eaten with a little bit of vanilla yogurt for a healthy snack. My first sample box was a delight and I’m looking forward to next month! An Apple A Day, not a problem with these goodies!

Soft and Chewy Oatmeal Apple Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 Teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1/4 Teaspoon salt
3 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup chopped dried apples
Directions:
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in oats and dried apples.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls, 6 rounded Tablespoons to each ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 1 minute before removing to wire racks to cool. I baked these with 6 on a cookie sheet because they do spread quite a bit.

Hi Bunny
Being a Pennsylvania girl myself, I love to support local businesses, and I know exactly where Kauffman’s Fruit Market is located, because we have stopped there several times over the years whenever we have taken a trip to Bird-in-Hand, PA, which is one of our favorite places in PA to visit. Everything that they sell from their fruit farm is always fresh and delicious. Although I must admit that I have never tried their Apple Schnitz, so the next time that we are in the area, we will have to stop at Kaufmann’s Fruit Market and buy a bag. Have a great weekend!
Valerie I would love to stop and visit Kauffman’s on one of our trips back to Pa. to see family. I’d have to wait till we were ready to come home though, I know I’d load the car up with goodies!!
Yes, I know exactly what you mean, Bunny. That’s why we always pack a cooler with us so that we can bring lots of goodies home with us on our return trip back to Pittsburgh. That’s half the fun of going there 🙂 🙂
Pittsburgh, wow that’s trip for you then!
Yes, it is a bit of a hike forus, but Pennsylvania Dutch Country is one of our favorite places to go. Where are you originally from in PA, Bunny?
Im from Sunbury, Pa. It’s more Central Pa. We are about 3 hours from Pittsburgh and 3 hours from Philly.
