Snickerdoodle Apple Cobbler

A delicious apple dessert made easy by using a pouch of premade sugar cookie mix.

Ingredients

  • One 17.5 ounce pouch Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg room temperature
  • 5 Teaspoons sugar
  • 3/4 Teaspoon cinnamon
  • 10 cups peeled and sliced baking apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 Teaspoons lemon juice

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 13x9 inch glass baking dish with shortening.
  • Place the cookie mix, softened butter and egg in a large bowl. Stir the ingredients together with a spoon until they form a soft dough.
  • Place 5 Teaspoons of sugar and 3/4 Teaspoons Cinnamon in a small bowl, mix the ingredients together to combine them and set them aside.
  • Place the 10 cups of apples,1/2 cup sugar, 3 Tablespoons of all purpose flour, 1 Teaspoon cinnamon and 2 Teaspoons lemon juice in another large bowl. Stir the ingredients together until the apples are well coated.
  • Spread the coated apples evenly into your prepared 13x9 inch greased baking pan. Drop the cookie dough we set aside by rounded Tablespoons evenly over the apple filling, some of the apples will still show. Sprinkle the top with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbly. Cool 10 minutes on a wire rack before serving.
