This is so delicious! And it’s true, using beans from “scratch” makes a huge difference. A friend we shared it with told me she substituted carrots for the bacon to make a vegetarian version, and that it turned out beautifully!

I was looking for a non-:Mexican soup using black beans, and this one is fabulous! I added a couple thinly sliced carrots to it, and the family loved it. Definitely making this again.

In reply to S. The Cilantro is a garnish, you can add it along side the soup to be added as each person wants it.
